This talk is an assessment of the social, economic, and political situation in Uzbekistan on the eve of independence (1991) and the early years. Speaker will review the policies (domestic and foreign) of Islam Karimov era (ending in 2016), and the election of Shavkat Mirziyoyev as President and foreign policy shifts with educational reforms, with a focus on higher education.
