CeLCAR’s Phrasebook series was originally developed by Afghan language specialist Dr. Rahman Arman as a practical resource to help refugee resettlement workers communicate with Afghan refugees. Designed with beginning language learners in mind, the phrasebooks provide quick access to essential vocabulary and survival phrases in the target language. Compact and easy to carry, each phrasebook organizes commonly used words and expressions by theme (including greetings, daily activities, food, family, shopping, medical terms, etc.) to promote structured learning and quick reference. Each entry includes the phrase in the target language along with a Latin-alphabet transliteration, giving learners both clear meaning and practical support for pronunciation and script recognition.
