As a Title VI Foreign Language Resource Center (LRC), one of CeLCAR’s core responsibilities is to conduct research to advance the teaching and learning of Central Asian languages. This includes investigating effective methods of language instruction, exploring innovations in curriculum and assessment, and studying the processes of language acquisition across diverse learner populations. By both generating research ourselves and facilitating the sharing of research among our Central Asian linguistics and language education colleagues, CeLCAR plays a vital role in improving language pedagogy nationwide, supporting educators, and strengthening the country’s overall capacity in foreign language proficiency.
During the current grant cycle, CeLCAR is supporting two major research projects, one research project focused on acquisition and one research project focused on pedagogy. Additionally, CeLCAR is promoting the sharing of research among CA language education professionals through the publication of Pedagogy in Practice: Insights and Innovations for Less Commonly Taught Language Instruction, a comprehensive collection of articles by researchers and educators from around the world, as well continuing to host our bi-annual Conference on Central Asian Languages and Linguistics.
