Before retirement, Dr. Shahyar Daneshgar served as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Central Eurasian Studies at Indiana University Bloomington, where he spent more than three decades teaching Persian and Azerbaijani. His research explored Persian and Turkic linguistic and cultural interactions, comparative folklore, ethnomusicology, and ethnic and nationality issues across the Middle East and Central Eurasia, with a special focus on Iran.
Dr. Daneshgar serves as CeLCAR's Lead Azerbaijani Language Developer, where he collaborates with his colleague Fiala Abdullayeva, Associate Professor at Azerbaijan University of Languages, on the development of Azerbaijani: An elementary textbook, a communicative based language teaching textbook for teaching introductory level Azerbaijani.
