CeLCAR is funding a community course for Kurdish in the Nashville, Tennessee metropolitan area. The course is offered by Nashville State Community College (NSCC), with the support of funds from CeLCAR’s Title VI Language Resource Center grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Anyone there may take the course free of charge. Students in the class say that they love how it gives them the skills to connect with members of the Kurdish community in Nashville.

Recently, four professors from Uzbekistan State World Languages University (UzSWLU) traveled to Bloomington, Indiana, to meet with language leaders and students. Dr. Pulat Omanov, who is Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Philology, teaches English at UzSWLU and lead the group. Dr. Khadicha Mukhitdinova, Professor of the Department of General Linguistics, was the main presenter, along with Rano Majidova, Chair of the Department of General Linguistics, and Zilola Salisheva, Chair of the Department of Uzbek Language and Literature.
