CeLCAR, a center in the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies, sells Language Survival Kits for Dari and Pashto, which include a pocket-size (3.5 x 5) phrase book and accompanying CD. Phrase books list the phrases in the target script, phonetic translation, and English equivalent. These books were designed specifically for our language seminars and therefore include highly specific jargon in addition to everyday phrases.
Dari/Pashto Phrasebook:
CeLCAR recently developed a Dari/Pashto phrasebook for people who assist with any of our Afghan guests who happen to be joining us in the United States as refugees. It was developed by our Afghan language specialist, Dr. Rahman Arman, who has developed various language materials in Dari and in Pashto and who teaches Pashto at Indiana University. The phrasebook may be used either by English speakers who are assisting or by speakers of Dari or Pashto who are being assisted.
Printed paper copies of the phrasebook are also available at CeLCAR’s Online Shop.
The phrasebook is available online free of charge. Download coming soon.
