CeLCAR was recently honored to host four visiting professors from Uzbekistan State World Languages University (UzSWLU) in Tashkent for a collaborative exchange focused on advancing Uzbek language education and curriculum development.
On February 1, 2024, Dr. Pulat Omanov, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Philology; Dr. Rano Majidova, Chair of the Department of Linguistics; Dr. Zilola Salisheva, Chair of the Department of Uzbek Language and Literature; and Dr. Khadicha Mukhitdinova, Professor of Linguistics, presented their instructional approaches and shared Uzbek language materials developed at UzSWLU. The cross-institutional workshop brought together CeLCAR staff as well as faculty and students from the Department of Central Eurasian Studies (CEUS), the Inner Asian and Uralic National Resource Center (IAUNRC), and IU’s Language Workshop.
IU Faculty presenters Amber Kennedy Kent, Julian Kreidl, Tserenchunt Legden, Aleksei Rumiantsev, Valeria Varga, and Golshat Safiullina also contributed sessions highlighting innovative practices in language teaching and curriculum development. The workshop was attended by CeLCAR Director Gulnisa Nazarova, IAUNRC Director Jamsheed Choksy, and CEUS Chair Öner Özçelik, underscoring the strong institutional commitment to international collaboration.
The visit strengthened academic ties between IU and UzSWLU and highlighted a shared commitment to excellence in Uzbek language instruction.
