Indiana University has offered Pashto instruction intermittently since 2004, and we are excited to announce that the Deparment of Central Eurasian Studies will once again offer Intermediate Pashto courses in Fall 2021 and Spring 2022.
The courses, taught by CeLCAR’s Afghan Language Developer Dr. Rahman Arman, will combine interactive online exercises, expertly designed textbook content, and extensive authentic materials. Students will participate in real-time, face-to-face sessions via Zoom with instructors and guest presenters from Afghanistan and Pakistan. Classes are conducted primarily in Pashto and focus on developing practical communication skills.
Learners completing this course can expect to achieve a 3+ proficiency rating on ACTFL’s Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI).
For more information about Pashto, explore CeLCAR's introductory or intermediate textbooks or visit the Pashto information page of IAUNRC (Inner Eurasian and Uralic National Resource Center).
